A big delegation of Dutch students and professors of philosophy has visited St. Petersburg.
The delegation travelled to Russia’s Northern Capital to learn more about Russian culture and Russian philosophy. The 41 students and 5 teachers are all studying or working at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the second biggest city of the Netherlands and a twin-city of St. Petersburg.
The trip was organized by the Student Union ERA from the Philosophy Faculty. The participants had a busy schedule with visits to amongst others; the Dutch Consulate-General and the Netherlands Institute in St. Petersburg.
The delegation attended several lectures amongst others from Professor T. Artemieva at the Russian Herzen University about Russian philosophy.
Charles Hoedt, director of Nuffic Neso Russia, who helped the delegation in organizing their trip, delivered a lecture on life and study in the Russian Federation. This seminar took place in the former Dutch Church on Nevsky Prospekt where the Dutch Foundation Friends of St. Petersburg has its head office.
A group of Russian philosophy students took the Dutch on a walking tour through the city and a Russian architect also showed the delegation the hidden gems of St. Petersburg.
The philosophy trip took place from July 2nd until July 7th. During their last night the Rotterdam delegation saw the Dutch football team reaching the final of the World Championship by beating Uruguay. They watched the match together with the Dutch business community in St. Petersburg.
