Dutch Prime Minister to meet Russian alumni at NANR launch

15 Oct 2011

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte will meet Russian alumni as part of the official launch of the NANR network and take part in a Question and Answer session.

More than 100 guests are expected to participate in the NANR launch event on the evening of Thursday 20th October. The NANR is a network for Russian alumni who studied in the Netherlands (as part of exchange, BA, MA, Phd and short course programmes) or took part in trainings and internships via the Presidents Programme NRMTP.

As well as the Dutch Prime Minister, Dutch and Russian media and many alumni, the Dutch ambassador Ron Keller and Dutch minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen (Infrastructure and the Environment) will also take part alongside members of the business community.

Membership of the NANR is free of charge and is exclusively open to Russians who studied in the Netherlands. Active members of the network regularly organise professional and social events in which Dutch companies operating in Russia participate, together with the support of Nuffic Neso Russia, the official representative of Dutch higher education.

Before the arrival of the Prime Minister, a Mini-Master Class titled - Get More Out of Your Career will be given by Thomas Louman, Sales and Marketing Director of Unilever in Russia. Both Louman and Rutte worked in Human Resources at Unilever in the Netherlands earlier in their careers. During his talk Louman will discuss Unilever’s career concept and tell more about what he learned whilst working in business with the now Prime Minister.

44-year old Prime Minister Mark Rutte graduated in History from Leiden University. Acting as State Secretary for Higher Education and Science from June 2004 until June 2006, Rutte showed particular interest in making the Dutch higher education system more internationally competitive.  Under his direction it was decided to vastly increase the number of Nuffic Neso offices abroad promoting Dutch higher education and supporting alumni. Nuffic Neso is now present in 10 countries worldwide including Russia.

The virtual alumni network NANR is established and supported by Nuffic Neso Russia. NANR is also a part of the worldwide Holland Alumni Network.
