New market reports

Nuffic Neso has published a new market report called Opportunities in Russia for Universities of Applied Sciences.
Also a Translation Guide has been published for all Dutch higher education institutions who want to be active in the Russian market. The guidelines advise how to translate certain educational terms, for example research university or university of applied sciences, into Russian.
Only Dutch higher education institutions can download the reports for free at www.nuffic.nl/marketinformation.
Both reports are written in English and are in addition to previous reports which are also available online. The reports have been conducted in order to open the Russian higher education system and its market.
The brand new report Opportunities in Russia for Universities of Applied Sciences informs these universities about the possibilities in the Russian Federation. The report elaborates on the market potential and opportunities for institutional cooperation and provides an analysis of the local market activities of other countries with a binary higher education system.
The concept of professional higher education is well embedded in the Dutch higher education system. However, this is not the default situation in many other countries. Often professional higher education is not seen as a separate orientation, but rather is included in a unified higher education system.
The Netherlands has two main types of higher education: research universities and universities of applied sciences.
Research universities focus on the independent practice of research-oriented work in an academic or professional setting. Universities of applied sciences are more practical skills oriented, preparing students directly for specific careers.
A smaller branch of education is provided by institutes for international education, which offer programmes designed especially for foreign students.
