Institutes for international education

Institutes for international education (IE) offer advanced training courses in a wide range of fields. Most of these are part of a research university.
There are six large IE institutes which are based on working in small, intercultural groups and the exchange of knowledge. They are facilitated by teachers with extensive experience in working in developing countries. IE institutes offer various types of education including short courses, master’s programmes and sometimes PhD programmes .
Duration of study programmes
- Master of Arts (MA): 1-2 years
- Master of Science (MSc): 1-2 years
- PhD (only possible at some institutes); duration is flexible
