Russian-Dutch Forum and Round Table marked Nuffic Neso Russia’s 10-year anniversary

On October 3, as part of Nuffic Neso Russia’s 10-year anniversary, a Russian-Dutch Forum at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and a Round Table at HSE University was organized. The Forum at the Financial University, which celebrates its 100-year anniversary this year, was about the development of Russian-Dutch cooperation in Higher Education.

In total 34 representatives of 15 Dutch Higher Education Institutions, the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, Erasmus+, the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and Nuffic attended. Furthermore, the Russian Ministry of Science and Erasmus+ Russia were present. During the Forum Sander Reinderink and Janco Bonnink from Saxion University of Applied Sciences and Vice Rector Alexander Linnikov from the Financial University signed an agreement for the Double Degree Program between Saxion University of Applied Sciences and the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

The Russian-Dutch Forum was followed by a Round Table at HSE University on Academic Entrepreneurship & Digitalization in University Strategy moderated by professor Hein Roelfsema. Among the participants were First Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Grigory Trubnikov, Dutch ambassador Rob Swartbol and Management Board Member of the Dutch Research Council Wim van den Doel. Van den Doel stressed that his mission for the Round Table was to find new ways for development of academic ties between Russia and the Netherlands. Furthermore, Trubnikov said that “Russia and the Netherlands have a solid foundation for further development of bilateral cooperation in scientific research and education.” Moreover, he spoke about the initiative of the Russian government for the development of models for digital universities.

The day before, October 2, HSE University celebrated 25 years of educational cooperation between Erasmus University Rotterdam and the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences. During the meeting, past as well as future cooperation between the universities was discussed. At the Round Table alumni of both universities spoke about Erasmus University Rotterdam’s role in their professional development and careers.

The day was concluded with a reception in the Metropol Hotel. Several Holland Alumni were present at the reception, Holland Alumnus Vasily Shabat’s band “Intro Version” played, and Nuffic Neso Russia director Jerke Verschoor gave a 3D-printed podstakannik (glass holder) designed by two Holland Alumni to the Dutch ambassador Rob Swartbol. 

On 4 October, a delegation of representatives of the Dutch higher education institutions joined for a meet and greet with the faculties of Lomonosov Moscow State University and had a tour through the historic Lomonosov building.

Altogether, Nuffic Neso Russia’s 10-year anniversary led to new possibilities for further cooperation between Russian and Dutch Higher Education Institutions.
