1) Which university did you study in Russia and in the Netherlands? Which area of study and which programme?

I am an alumna of VAVT – Russian Foreign Trade Academy. I graduated from VAVT in June 2010 with the Bachelors in Foreign Trade Management. After relocating to the Netherlands in April 2012, I immediately continued building on my full-time professional career by starting working in May 2012. Further, after gaining professional experience in two industries and combining it with finalizing my Dutch integration program with passing the Dutch language state exam, I decided that it was a good time to enhance my academic knowledge and international experience in order to become a smarter business leader by pursuing Master of Science degree in International Management at Nyenrode Business Universiteit. I started the program in August 2013 and will be graduating in January 2015.

2) Why did you decide to go to study in the Netherlands and How did you choose the university in the Netherlands?

I am fond of the idea of continuous improvement and development not only professionally but especially in terms of education. Moreover, I believe that in order to be a successful business person, international experience is a must. After developing myself professionally in the Netherlands I took the decision to deep dive back into the academic experience. As a person who values the unique blend of academic experience combined with advanced business knowledge and professional network development the choice was easy – Nyenrode Business Universiteit is not only the only private university in the Netherlands but it was founded by the professionals from the leading corporations in the Netherlands such as KLM, Shell, Unilever, Philips and Akzo.

3) When you were planning to go to study abroad, what did you expect from it? Did your study in the Netherlands fulfill your expectations?

Gaining the academic experience in the Netherlands is completely different from gaining professional experience. I was expecting it to be an amazing journey full of exciting challenges and opportunities and so far working my way through to getting my Master’s degree completely fulfilled my expectations and ambitions.

4) How could you describe the study process in your Dutch university? Can you compare it with the Russian one you studied at?

The study process at Nyenrode is really unique as it includes not only academic theory experience but also the whole range of business activities, meetings and career & personal development sessions. Studying at Nyenrode includes a lot of team work and effort and requires hard work, perseverance and determination. By working together you learn a lot and it gives you an invaluable knowledge and experience.

5) What is the most valuable experience you gained during your stay in the Netherlands?

I would say that the most valuable experiences I gained in the Netherlands are the extensive opportunities which this country has to offer. As long as you are committed to success and perform to the best of your abilities you will be able to achieve any goal you are aiming for.

6) Do you think your study experience in the Netherlands will help your career development?

I strongly believe that in the business world which is getting more and more globalized strong international experience is absolutely indispensable and one of the most important attributes of a successful business person. I definitely believe that academic experience in the Netherlands would add a substantial value to my further professional career development.

7) Do you think your international experience will have an impact on your future life?

International experience will definitely enhance not only my business career but will also have a positive impact on my future personal development as it helps to open up and break through the invisible boundaries of global business and society.

8) Tell us a little bit about your plans for the future; how do you see yourself in 4 yours.

In the nearest future after graduating from Nyenrode in January 2015 I am planning to continue my professional career in the field of procurement, so far I continue my journey in the Netherlands, but who knows where my next destination will be...
